I was introduced to the Citroen when I was doing the Porsche poster. I was completely fascinated with the design brief that shaped the car. France had a rather large rural population, that at the time, couldn’t afford automobiles. The Citroen had to fill this niche by being low priced and allowing farmers to carry 50 kg of produce to the market, at 50 km/h and through roads that were rugged and unpaved. The car would use no more than 3L of gasoline to travel a distance of 100 km. The highlight was the fact that it would carry eggs through ploughed fields without breaking them!
The car, to me at least, doesn’t exude that industrial vibe. There’s something very familiar and comfortable about it- That’s probably what prompted me to do the hand done type.
After the Porsche and the Citroen, I’m tempted to take on an automobile poster series. Suggestions are welcome!
So many posts lined up. The Saturdays are too few.
